In my opinion, its better to get the herc first and buy feathers from coin gained from using herc to buy the nix. Herc is a huge cash cow, with the right build you can solo fbs and TT, as well as many bosses around the world (I'm proof of this, solo'd 49 culti bosses at 49).
But also, you should look at your build before deciding which one you want. A herc is going to be useless if you cant keep him healed, like if you're a light armor or heavy armor veno with very low magic points. In this case I'd suggest you get the nix since it kills so fast you wouldnt need a great heal, or even to heal it at all.
